If you read this post, you would have known that 15 of the highest-achieving female artists would be recording a song entitled "Just Stand Up" as a charity single for cancer awareness. The song features vocals from Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Ashanti, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Mary J. Blige, Fergie, Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Melissa Etheridge, and Miley Cyrus, The song is not as great as I had expected, but it is pretty decent. It just sucks because some singers (Fergie, Carrie Underwood), got plenty of verses, while some others (Ashanti, Ciara), only got 1 verse. You can purchase the song for charity starting September 2nd! Enjoy!

NEW MUSIC: Monica featuring Ludacris ~ "Still Standing"

Yet another r&b legend is releasing a new single today! First Brandy, and now Monica. 2 summers ago Monica was on the top of the r&b charts with her single "Everytime tha Beat Drop". She has now returned with her newest single "Still Standing" featuring rapper Ludacris. The song has a bit of a slow start, but quickly becomes a great mid tempo soul / r&b track. The lyrics are pretty meaningful and she sounds a lot like contemporary Mary J. Blige. It's a bit of a slow down from "Everytime tha Beat Drop", but I'm sure it will sure become huge! Enjoy it!!

Mary J. Blige ~ Stay Down (Video Premiere)

Mary J. Blige's latest release, ''Growing Pains'' has been her most successful release in her lifetime, but her 2nd single choice is really disapointing me. Her 2nd single, "Stay Down" is a very smooth soul track, that is not very appeling at all. The video is very intersting, and it is clearly all green-screen effects. But, even thought the song may be boring, it has a really nice meaning to it. Hopefully, she releases "Work That" featuring Busta Ryhmes, as the next single. Enjoy!!

Stars + Steriods = Bad News!

Monday, January 14, 2008

And no we aren't talking about baseball players! Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Wyclef Jean and filmmaker Tyler Perry are among thousands whose names have surfaced in a burgeoning steroid probe currently under way in New York. The newspaper cited medical records and testimony from several unidentified witnesses stating that Blige, Fiddy and others, in a bid to appear young and fit, received shipments of prescribed human growth hormone at hotels, production studios, health clubs and private residences, even sometimes using fictitious names.

The Times Union reports the pharmacy sent supplies of the human growth hormone Jentropin and the anabolic steroid Oxandrolone to the 37-year-old Blige at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Las Vegas MGM Grand and Clay Gym. Some shipments were sent to the ''Growing Pains'' singer under the name of Marlo Stanfield, which happens to be the moniker of the drug lord in HBO's acclaimed crime drama The Wire. As for Fiddy, the report says the rap superstar received a supply of steroids mailed to his Connecticut mansion in July 2006 under the name Michael Jordan. He also allegedly received packages at his house in Los Angeles.

Timbaland, whose real name is Timothy Mosley, is alleged to have obtained HGH and anabolic steroids between October 2005 and September 2006 at his Miami residence. Perry—the playwright, actor and director of box-office hits like Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Why Did I Get Married? and executive producer of the TBS comedy series House of Payne—purportedly had steroids shipped in his name to his Atlanta-based offices in 2005 and 2006.

Reps for 50 Cent, Timbaland and Perry could not be immediately reached for comment, but a publicist for Blige smacked down the report.

"Mary J. Blige has never taken any performance-enhancing illegal steroids," spokeswoman Karynne Tencer said in a statement. It is very unfortunate if these entertainers did do steroids because this could really hurt their careers.

Vh1's Top 40 Videos of 2007

Thursday, December 20, 2007

Every year around this time Vh1 comes out the top 40 greatest videos of the year. Last year's list was quite impressive with the top spot taken by The Pussycat Dolls' "Buttons". This year's list, was not as comprehensive. It actually disappointed me, alot.

The top video was Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" which I think deserved to be somewhere in the 30's. In second was Daughtry's "It's Not Over", which I would have given #15 or so. In third through fifth were Pink's "U + Ur Hand", Rihanna's "Umbrella", and Maroon 5's "Makes Me Wonder". I think "Umbrella" would have been better of at number 2, while Maroon 5 and Pink would be good somwhere between #20 - 27. So now you are probably wondering what my top video is? I would have chosen Ludacris and Mary J. Blige's "Runaway Love" which placed in #18. You can view the full list and watch the videos right here.

And, if you were waiting for it or something, here is the download link for the mp3 of "Big Girls Don't Cry", your top video of 2007.
